MILESTONES AND MEMORIES
The music show GTK(short for “Get To Know”) started on ABC TV this week in 1969.

Forty-five years ago this week, Col Joye scored his final number one single, with Heaven Is My Woman’s Love.

Andy Gibb’s I Just Want To Be Your Everything hit number one in the US this week in 1977, the first of three US chart-toppers for the youngest Gibb brother.

2JJ became 2JJJ this week in 1980 when it switched to FM.

Rick Springfield’s Jessie’s Girl hit number one in the US this week in 1981 – the week that MTV started.

Australian Crawl’s third album, Sons of Beaches, became their second number one album, this week in 1982. Their first number one album, Sirocco, was the same week the previous year.

Yothu Yindi’s Treaty entered the charts 27 years ago this week.

Cold Chisel’s Khe Sanh entered the Australian Top 40 this week in 2011 – 33 years after it was first released.

Happy Birthday to Russell Morris, who turns 70 on July 31, and Jessica Mauboy is 29 on August 4.
