Daddy Cool’s debut album, Daddy Who? Daddy Cool!, topped the Australian charts this week in 1971. It stayed at number one for seven weeks.

Mike Brady’s Up There Cazaly (credited to The Two Man Band) hit number one in Australia this week in 1979.

The Dingoes, Kev Carmody, Little Pattie, Mental As Anything and John Paul Young were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame this week in 2009.

This week in 2011, Gotye became the first Aussie act to have the number one single (Somebody That I Used To

Also this week in 2011, Cold Chisel released their first studio recording in 13 years, All For You. It was the final recording by drummer Steve Prestwich.

Happy Birthday to long-time Nick Cave collaborator Mick Harvey, who is 60 on August 29; The Vines singer Craig Nicholls, is 41 on August 31; Barry Gibb is 72 on September 1; and Craig McLachlan is 53 on September 1.
